Boredom Busters #1: Gardening!

Updated: Jul 30, 2020

Hi all,

We’re going to be starting a series called Boredom Busters to give you ideas for super fun activities you can do at home! Today our first topic is going to revolve around gardening!

Take a look around you. The wild grass growing in your yard. The tall looming trees that had once been the same height as you. The flowers straightening up and smiling at you as you walk past them. Mother Earth is beautiful, and while stuck at home, one should consider giving back to the blessed world we live in. Next time you finish eating a fruit, save the seeds and consider using them to grow your own tree. Gardening can be a great way to get some much needed vitamin D as we continue to stay stuck in our humble abodes daily. This can also be a great source of family time! Grab your parents and siblings and make a garden beautification day or even a tree planting day! We depend on these plants for at the basic level food and oxygen, so when you have the time, help make the world you live in more green!

Tips for Gardening:

  1. At first, try gardening in an area that is visible to you, so you remember to spend time gardening.

  2. Make sure you choose a spot that has enough sunlight, because most plants need a lot of sunlight in order to grow.

  3. It’s also a good idea to plant your garden near a water source and in good soil.

  4. Growing plants in containers can help prevent watering your plants too much or too less.

  5. Adding mulch around the plant can help reduce weeds.

  6. If you have any extra fruits, it could be a good chance to make friends with your neighbors. A fruit exchange never hurt anyone!
